Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Gardens, a proud Smithsonian affiliate, offers visitors of all ages the opportunity to experience the performing arts, visual arts, history, and more. If you’re looking to have family friendly and noteworthy experiences this July, Snug Harbor has the ideal family friendly events for you. Some new and exciting events to keep track of include the Staten Island Children’s Museum, Horticulture Walks, and more!

Staten Island Children’s Museum: ConEdison Second Saturday Science Solar Speedway:

Rediscover Snug Harbor on one of our summer tours! From June – September, you can learn all about Snug Harbor’s Heritage Farm, a better-than-organic 2.5 acre sustainable urban farm, now in its seventh growing season. Go behind the scenes at the farm with four different tour options as the seasons change.

Letter Writing for Members of the Military:

Also for the month of July, join the Staten Island Children’s Museum in this special letter writing workshop as they create cards to mail to active members of our military overseas.

 

Summer Nights Art of Cocktails!

Guests 21 and over are invited to craft their own cocktails with the expert guidance of Staten Island’s Best Bartender, Danny Ippolito, owner of Bin 5 in Rosebank. Get your staycation on as we explore Ippolito’s carefully curated menu of artisan cocktails while Museum Archivist Gabriella Leone presents photographs and stories from the collection showcasing Staten Island’s unique history as a popular retreat destination during the turn of the 20th century up through midcentury. Each of the three featured drinks will be fashioned out of fresh ingredients (all provided) and skillfully crafted by Ippolito while guests observe and then make their own. Registration recommended.

Public Work’s Shakespeare in the Park:

On July 29th and August 14th for Twelfth Night, a limited number of vouchers for that night’s performance will be distributed at Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden on the front porch of Cottage D located on Cottage Road on the grounds of Snug Harbor. Ticket vouchers will be distributed beginning at 12pm (noon) while supplies last, or 2pm, whichever occurs first. Borough distribution dates vary, so be sure to check the borough distribution calendar. Each person (age 5+) may receive up to two (2) tickets, while supplies last.
